Choosing a Plastic Surgeon

A good plastic surgeon is, in many ways, an artist. To be sure, he or she is a medical doctor, a skilled surgeon, trained to heal the body's wounds. He is a "psychiatrist," experienced in probing for reasons and reassuring patients about their inadequacies and anxieties. But unlike other medical doctors, the plastic surgeon is also creating and, re-creating visible parts of the body, making aesthetic judgments that will forever affect the patient's precious individuality-her looks.
