Plastic Surgery

Establishing a beauty regimen involving skin and hair care, makeup routines and taking care of your inner self, is not enough for everyone. There are many women who are not happy with one or more of their facial or body features, who try to hide them or to otherwise compensate for such feelings of inadequacy. For these women, there is an option: plastic surgery. Each year, thousands of women (and men) undergo cosmetic surgery to alter features they consider dissatisfying; they do so to improve their looks and to gain a feeling of self-worth that has otherwise eluded them. In addition, there are many of us who, as we grow older, may consider plastic surgery as an option to retard and remove the signs of aging that seem to be inevitable.

Plastic surgery is divided into two general categories: reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery is usually nonelective surgery; it is performed to correct a person's abnormal feature or condition and make it, as closely as possible, a normal one. Patients who have such surgery include those who have been injured and disfigured in accidents, those with birth defects and cancer patients. Cosmetic surgery is elective surgery that enhances a feature of a normal person to make her look better. Such procedures include face-lifts, eyelid surgery and most breast and nasal surgeries.

Cosmetic plastic surgery is an option that gives a woman a chance to make herself look better or prettier, by either changing a feature she thinks of as a compromise or reversing various signs of aging. It is ideal for a woman who does not want to go through her entire life feeling inadequate about a particular feature she considers unattractive. It can be a solution for a woman who feels that she would be more beautiful if she corrected a problem that is disturbing to her. It may be the answer for someone who has an appropriate, realistic and honest motivation to make herself look better.
