What is Onychocryptosis ?
Onychocryptosis condition is usually very painful and can be associated with infection of the toe. Some ingrown toenails are chronic, with repeated episodes of pain and infection. In Onychocryptosis, the skin around the toenail may become red and infected. The great toe is usually affected, but any toenail can become ingrown. The condition may become serious in people.
What causes Onychocryptosis ?
Some known causes of Onychocryptosis are as follows -

Onychocryptosis Treatment Ingrown toenails should be treated as soon as they are recognized. In many cases, people with uninfected ingrown toenails can obtain relief with the following simple regimen:
- Soak the feet in warm salt water
- Dry them thoroughly with a clean towel
- Avoid tight fitting foot wear
- If discomfort develops try soaking the foot in a basin of warm water two or three times a day.
- Apply a mild antiseptic solution to the area
