Jasmine

Botanical Name: Jasminum officinalis

Background/Origin: Jasmine Oil is an absolute, and is produced by solvent extraction from the jasmine flowers, which are hand picked at Dawn because the fragrance is at it's strongest. Jasmine is native to India, Egypt, China and the Mediterranean and belongs to the Oleaceae family.

How Jasmine is extracted: Solvent Extracted

Description: The Jasminum grandiflora species is a small bush, native to the East Indies and Egypt and cultivated in southern France, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, India and Egypt. Its delicate white flowers produce a honey-sweet floral bouquet with fruity undertones. The deep red oil is produced by enfleurage , and has an intense rich, floral fragrance that is warm and exotic. It is one of the most important and and expensive extracts, along with rose, used in perfumery.

Color: Deep Brown with a Golden Tinge

Property: Antidepressant, aphrodisiac, antispasmodic, relaxing, carminative, sedative, parturient, emmenagogue

Therapeutic Effects of Jasmine: Jasmine is a mood enhancer, lifting anxiety and depression. An aphrodisiac, it has a reputation for the treatment of both frigity and impotence. It will also relieve menstrual cramps and is soothing to inflamed or irritated skin.

Uses of Jasmine essential oil: In halation, bathing and massage will all exploit it warming and relaxing qualities. Also makes a delightful uplifting perfume or room fragrance.
