Home remedy for Toothache


What is a toothache?

A toothache hurts a lot. A toothache is any pain or soreness within or around a tooth, indicating inflammation and possible infection. A toothache hurts when you smile or when you eat or drink anything, it hurts when you clench or unclench your jaw, and also whenever you move your head in any direction.

Home remedies for Toothache or Tooth Pain Relief:

Below there are varoius home remedies/ remedy for a toothache pain relief or cure which we have gathered from many traditinal sources and articles.

1) Rinse with salty water. After each meal and at bedtime, stir 1 teaspoon of salt into an 8-ounce glass of water. Hold each mouthful, roll it around your mouth and then spit.

2) Take 5 grams of fresh peppermint and boil it in 1 cup of water with a pinch of salt. When drunk, it relieve toothaches, as well as good for other types of pain also like headaches.

3) Ice is excellent in numbing nerve endings. Try to compress the affected area with ice. But if it aggravates the pain then discontinue it.

4) Brush your teeth with fine table salt in the mornings and evenings.

5)Hold a swig of whiskey over the painful tooth, says Dr. Corn. Your gums will absorb some of the alcohol and that will numb the pain. Spit out the rest.

6)There are of over-the-counter pain relievers to cure toothaches that you can choose from. Most common are Paracetamol, Aspirin, and Acetaminophen.

7) Keep heat away from your aching cheek even if it makes the toothache feel better.

Folk/tribal home remedy for a toothache

Fresh peanuts, shelled and crushed, and onion, peeled and crushed, are mixed together to form a fine paste. The paste is smeared on one side of something, like a piece of bread. This is placed inside the mouth, pressed against the sore tooth. This is left for a few hours, and nothing is drunk or eaten etc. The purpose of the bread is to hold the paste in place.

Although these home remedies for toothache relieves from tooth pain, not cure it completely. A sharp, severe or throbbing pain is usually irreversible and should be consulted to a doctor.
