Propecia Hair LossHair loss propecia is a well known product among a number of medications that are available for men that are experiencing hair losses. Baldness is largely the result of dihydrotestosterone interacting with those hair follicles that are genetically vulnerable to their effects. Dihydrotestosterone is essentially the active ingredient or catalyst for the hair loss process. However, Propecia has not been proven to restore hair in the frontal areas. For reasons yet unknown these drugs, along with Rogaine, generally only work in regrowing thinning hair in crown area of the scalp. Only hair transplant surgery has been successful in restoring hair in the frontal hairline area once it has been lost. Propecia is for use by men only. It is not for use in women or children. Propecia and avodart are also less effective in growing hair in older men. These hair loss drugs work best for men who have been balding for less than five years. Propecia and avodart should be taken once a day. This medicine is broken down by liver-enzymes. Therefore, in patients with liver disease propecia can cause hepatitis, although this problem is seen very rarely. Propecia is for use by men only. It is not for use in women or children. Propecia, in generic terms is known as finasteride. In dealing with the male pattern baldness, it is known to help men. It has been found that after two years of treatment, Propecia effectively grows hair in about 66% of patients. Propecia tablets have a coating that will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets have not been broken or crushed. Each of these effects occurred in less than two percent of men. These side effects went away in all men who discontinued therapy because of them and also disappeared in 58 percent of men who chose to continue taking propecia. Women must not use propecia when they are or may potentially be pregnant because it may cause abnormalities of the male baby's organs, a condition known as hypospadias. In addition, women should not handle crushed or broken tablets when they are pregnant or may potentially be pregnant. Side effects of Propecia
