Eye Stye Treatment - How to Treat Eye Stye


Stye information

An eye stye occurs when staphylococcal bacteria infect one of the tiny glands at the base of the eyelid hairs and then becomes inflamed. An infection bacterium is frequently transferred from one hair shaft to another when rubbing it to relieve itching, all the the signs of inflammation, swelling, redness, pain and heat or warmth and occurs on the edge of the eyelid.

Eye Stye Cause

The toxic condition of the child's system brought about by wrong eating habits, especially consumption of foods such as white bread, refined cereals, boiled potatoes, pudding, pies and confectionery is the real and main cause of eye stye.

Following are the causes of stye:

  • The main cause of stye is the staphylococcal organisms eyelid infections, but other organisms may be involved.
  • Some other relating factors which are common in stye patient include:
    • Diabetes
    • Other debilitating illness
    • Chronic blepharitis
    • Seborrhea
    • High serum lipids

Stye Symptom

Stye is commonly a pimple raised on the eyelid, it look like bumps at the edge of the eyelid. They may be tender, swollen, red, and/or warm to the touch. Here are the list of symptom of Stye:

Redness, tenderness and pain are usually the first symptoms of a stye (though eyelash styes are less painful and heal with less effort than eyelid styes).

Stye Treatment

The best treatment for treating eye stye is to applying an antibiotic ointment (available from a doctor) will make the stye disappear more quickly. Some styes rupture, drain and heal without treatment.

Some Home Remedies for treating Stye

  • Boil a teaspoon of coriander seeds with a cupful of water for a while, like a herbal tea preparation. Use this to wash the eyes 3-4 times a day.
  • Guava leaves, warmed and placed on a warm damp cloth, and then used as a compress, reduce the redness, pain and swelling.
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric in 2 cups of water until it reduces in half. Cool and strain 4-5 times through a fine muslin. Apply as eye drops 3-4 times a day
  • Take a cup of water. Dissolve 2-3 granules of alum in it. Use as an eyewash.
  • A grated potato used as a poultice, reduce swelling in inflamed eyes.
  • Boil a handful of acacia leaves in two cups of water to make a decoction and apply it as compress on the eyelids

All above the best natural home remedies to treat a stye and also beneficial for reducing the pain and swelling in a stye.

Following are other treatment methods for stye:

1) Stye is automatically resolved within few days and needs no treatment

2) Gently cleaning the eyelid with a clean, warm washcloth can help prevent the pores from becoming clogged

3) antibiotic ointment or drops

4) warm compresses to the eyelid at least three or four times a day

5) Avoiding touching or rubbing the eyes

6) Doctors can puncture a particularly persistent or irritating stye with a needle, to accelerate its draining. Their spread or expansion can also be fought with the use of antibiotic ointment akin to Neosporin
