Alopecia totalis is a chronic skin disorder. Alopecia totalis is a common condition which can occur in any age group. Alopecia Totalis commences as an Alopecia Areata patch which is rapidly joined by others which coalesce creating baldness of the entire scalp. The disease may resolve spontaneously or following treatment, or may show resistance to cure. Recurrences are possible. Fingernails may demonstrate pitting's and/or ridges.
