Venous Angiomas is also known as development venous anomalies (DVA). It is one of the common forms of Angioma. An angioma is a benign tumor that consists of small blood vessels. A venous angioma in the basal ganglia is a malformation of the veins that drain blood from the brain.

The exact cause of Venous Angioma is not known. They're often found incidentally on brain imaging studies done for some other reason. They may appear anywhere in the body.
