Tea Tree

Botanical Name: Melaleuca alternifolia

Background/Origin: Tea Tree comes from Australia and belongs to the Melaleuca line of the Myrtaceae family. The oil is produced by steam distillation of the leaves. The name Tea-Tree is said to have originated when Captain Cook first arrived in Australia, and the leaves from one of the many species of the plant was used as an alternative to tea.

Tea Tree contains at least 48 different organic compounds, many of which have rarely been found elsewhere. Melaleuca alternifolia has very strong antiseptic properties, is antibacterial whilst being non-toxic.

How Tea Tree is extracted: Steam Distilled

Description: Currently the subject of a great deal of international research due to its usefulness in a wide range of bacterial, viral and fungal conditions. Tea Tree is anti-infectious and an immunostimulant and is useful for infections, colds, flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, candidiasis, thrush,yeast infections, athlete's foot, acne/blemishes, cold sores,insect bItes, rashes,and very healing on the gums.It is very invigorating, uplifting and strengthening.

Color: Clear with a Yellow Tinge

Property: Powerful Antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antibiotic, detoxifying, insecticide, stimulating.

Uses of Tea Tree essential oil: Colds and flu, sinusitis, catarrh, sore throat, boosts the immune system, insect bites, cuts and wounds, spots, yeast infections, thrush, athletes foot, muscular aches, arthritis, mouth ulcers, cold sores, shingles and chicken pox.
