Milium - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Milium is a very common disorder. It usually occurs in large numbers on the face and less so on the genitalia. In the former case, milia occur on the eyelids, below the eyes, cheeks, temples and forehead. They are globoid in shape, have a firm consistency and are slightly elevated. When punctured, a whitish substance is expelled resembling the kernel of rice. The lesions are asymptomatic; even so, they can become a problem with sensitive people who consider them cosmetic blemishes.
