Impetigo

Impetigo is a contagious and autoinoculable infection of the skin caused by staphylococci or streptococci (or both). Classically, two forms have been recognized: (1) a vesiculopustular type, with thick golden-crusted lesions caused by Staphylococcus aureus or group A -hemolytic streptococci; and (2) a bullous type, associated with phage group II S aureus. However, most cases of impetigo of either presentation now appear to be due to staphylococci.

What is Impetigo?

Impetigo is an extremely contagious skin infection for which many people often seek an impetigo remedy. It has been commonly believed to be a disease of childhood , though it may also occur frequently in adults making this a misconception in the knowledge of infectious viruses. It is usually more prevalent in infants and younger children following a cold, however, impetigo can infect anyone at any age at any time. The infection can spread rapidly from one person to another by close and/or skin-to-skin contact, especially during the early years in schools. The disease is more likely to thrive in settings with poor hygienic conditions.

What cause Impetigo?

Impetigo is an extremely contagious virus that is caused by staphylococci and occasionally by streptococci germs. The organism can spread quickly, particularly among children, causing an outbreak of the disease in epidemic proportion. Impetigo may also occur as a secondary infection in atopic eczema, scabies and head-lice infestation.

The real cause of the disease however is conditional and generally results from malnutrition due to poor eating habits and unclean habits in living conditions. It is easily passed from the infected child to other children, who are in a similar state of toxicity and impaired vitality, through contact. It is often pointless to explore an impetigo remedy if you are not proactive in changing the existing conditions and habits in which this virus thrives.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Impetigo?

Itching is the only symptom. The lesions consist of macules, vesicles, bullae, pustules, and honey-colored gummy crusts that when removed leave denuded red areas. The face and other exposed parts are most often involved. Ecthyma is a deeper form of impetigo caused by staphylococci or streptococci, with ulceration and scarring.

The beginning infection of impetigo appears as a small fluid-filled vesicle usually around the nose or lips. The infection can spread to other parts of the face and occasionally other parts of the body by the child's irresistible urge to scratch, and also due to presence of bacteria in large numbers. The vesicle rapidly crusts over, forming a yellowish scab that can be easily flaked off, leaving a raw, weeping surface. The sooner you find an effective impetigo remedy the better your chances are to a quick recovery from this annoying virus.

What are the Natural treatments available for Impetigo?

After the all-fruit diet, the patient may embark upon a well balanced diet consisting of milk, seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. The emphasis should be on fresh fruits, raw salads, fresh milk and whole meal bread. The use of these foods is of utmost importance in the future dietary. The patient should avoid tea, coffee and all condiments and highly flavored dishes as well as sugar, white flour products, denatured cereals and tinned or bottled foods.

Another approach at achieving an affective impetigo remedy is to administer warm-water enema daily during the first few days of the infection to cleanse the bowels. If constipation is habitual, all natural methods should be adopted for its eradication.

Certain home impetigo remedies have been found beneficial in the treatment of this virus. The use of turnip (salgum) is one such impetigo remedy. A few chopped turnip pieces after thorough cleaning should be immersed in rice starch (kangi) or any natural vinegar for about six hours and then eaten by the patient.

Garlic is useful in relieving constant itching caused by this disease. This vegetable should be crushed and spread over irritated areas. One or two cloves of garlic should be chewed for better results. Other helpful measures that are said to be affective impetigo remedies are sun and air baths.

Impetigo Remedy -

Early and adequate use of an impetigo remedy upon the first indication of infection or sign of a small patch of impetigo can prevent the spread of the disease.

The infected person should be kept isolated until the condition is cleared up, to prevent the spread of infection. The infected person should be prevented from scratching the scabs and should have his own sponge and towel. No other member of the family should use these articles. They should be changed frequently and washed separately.

The use of harsh detergent should be avoided. Clothes should be thoroughly rinsed. These are some of the most affective approaches to an impetigo remedy that have been found.

An effective impetigo remedy is essentially conditional and it should consist of proper diet, proper hygiene and fresh air. The best way to commence the treatment is to place the patient on an all-fruit diet for two or three days. In this regimen, he should be given fresh juicy fruits such as orange, apple, pineapple, grapes, pear, peach and papaya.

In case of older children, however, it would be advisable to commence the treatment by placing him on a diet of orange juice and water for about three days. This may be followed by an all-fruit diet for further three days.
