Cellulite Diet

Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer of the skin that contains constricting bands of connective tissue. You can take steps to improve your overall health and well being, and reduce the amount of fat stored in your body. Cleansing the body and removing excess toxins may help improve your skins appearance and reduce your tendency toward cellulite. Organic fruits and vegetables are excellent foods for cleansing your body and helping eliminate stored toxins. Fresh fruits and vegetables contain multiple compounds like fiber, phytochemicals and minerals that help rid the body of pollutants. Fruits and vegetables also contain antioxidants that help reduce the damage inflicted on our bodies by free radicals. Follow a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrains, beans and legumes. These high fiber foods help eliminate waste and toxins. Oily fishes, nuts and seeds are good selections in this category. Drinking lots of water will also help flush the body and remove toxins more rapidly than dieting alone.

Some foods may make cellulite appear worse. One of the best ways to combat cellulite is not by dieting alone. A diet and exercise plan will help fight fat in all the right places. Make sure to consume nutrients in Vitamin B, C and E, essential fatty acids, glucosamine, calcium, iodine, fibre and potassium - e.g. avocados, oily fish, bananas, bran and oat cereals, pears, asparagus, broccoli and such are all good sources of foods to treat cellulite. Cellulite develops mainly in women, who need the extra fat for pregnancy and nursing. Being overweight increases your chances for cellulite, but thin women are susceptible to it, too. Try to avoid all drugs, unless the doctor prescribes them. Diet pills, oral contraceptives, sleeping pills can make fat cells to enlarge, leading to water retention and cellulite. The foods that contain highest amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids are: flax seeds and flax seed oil, nuts, fish and seafood. The best fish are: salmon, sardines, anchovies, herring, mackerel and trout. They are also beneficial for beautiful skin, hair and nails and they aid in weight loss.

Tips for a cellulite diet:

  • Drink at least 2 litres of pure water every day. Water cleanses your system and flushes toxins from body cells.
  • Eat at least 5 servings of fresh fruit and vegetables every day.
  • Avoid sugary snacks between meals. You may eat a piece of fruit, raw vegetables or rice cakes instead.
  • Drink a glass of hot water containing the huice of a fresh lemon when you get up in the morning. It is a wonderful way to detoxify your body.
  • Change from caffeine-laden tea and coffee to herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee.
  • Make sure your diet includes enough fiber.
  • Stay away from alcohol as much as possible as it adversely affects your liver.
